St. Mary-Basha Catholic School is dedicated to the education of the whole child as a Catholic and a citizen. With the mutual cooperation of the home, school, Church and community, we provide an atmosphere in which each student is given the opportunity to develop his/her unique gifts in order to build a life based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
From its very beginning, St. Mary-Basha Catholic School has flourished as a center of spiritual and educational learning led by Father Patterson and the Sisters of Charity.
The philosophy of the present administration is that a Catholic Education will not be denied because of a family's inability to pay full tuition.
St. Mary's began in 1944 with 123 students in grades 1-6 in 4 classrooms. 65 years later we have approximately 530 students in grades K-8 in 18 classrooms. St. Mary-Basha is the oldest private school in Chandler, Arizona.
The school year consists of three 12-week trimesters. The school day runs from 8:00am to 3:00pm (grades K-3) / 3:15pm (grades 4-8).
In 1994, St. Mary-Basha Catholic School was selected to receive the prestigious “Blue Ribbon School” Award by the U.S. Department of Education. The school is also accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement.
On-going efforts by the faculty, staff, administration, and pastor to improve the school program, to continue to offer financial assistance and to respond to the changing needs of the community illustrate a strong commitment to Catholic Education for many years to come. We continue to develop and improve our services and programs in an effort to enhance the students' education and to meet their future needs. We strive to provide an education that enables all students to meet the stated goals in both religious and academic areas.
